Thinning Edges (and keep voting for Amina...please!)

I previously asked a long time back if hair loss topics would be of interest to you (see here). In that post and subsequent emails the number one concern appears to be thinning edges.

So as a backdrop to this I am going to ask two questions, do you regularly brush or comb the hair at your hairline? Second question, do you like your hairline (meaning is it healthy and as full as you think it should be)?

Please leave your answer in the poll to the right!

Also don't forget to cast your vote for Amina over at Bobbi Brown. Voting is on for another 12 days and you can cast multiple votes! It only takes a couple of seconds, go over here to the contest site

  1. thank you sooooo much for your support!!
    I Really appreciate it!!!!!!!

    To answer your question:
    a) I never brush/comb the hair at the hairline. I haven't used a comb in years
    2) yes I am.My hair has suffered from years of tight cornrows and braids which is why I don't do them anymore. It is taking years to fill in but the hairline is getting fuller little by little. I still want it to be fuller but I am patient.

  2. You are very welcome, I think you deserve the prize so I'm going to keep voting and voting until the end.

I've seen that they have a 'most viral' category so I took the opportunity to add the video link to my blog.

    Bon chance!

  3. JC,

First, love the blog. Second, can you also discuss thinning or breakage at the nape. I'm struggling with this issue now.

    Thanks

  5. I used to brush/comb my edges and yes it contributed to my thinning. I no longer comb/brush (actually I no longer use a comb/brush period) and my edges are filling in nicely (and I'm also retaining length easier).

  7. I sometimes lightly brush my hairline when pulling my hair back (nothing aggressive, I use a silk scarf to smooth things out). I don't comb my hairline specifically, though I do use a wide tooth comb to detangle my entire head. I don't think I have any thinning (from the root), though I do have a little breakage at about 4 inches up from the root.

  8. Thank you so much for creating this site and investing so much time and energy into helping the natural hair care world. I can't believe I am just now finding your site; I have a lot of catching up to do. I was actually googling thinning edges, and found this here. I don't comb or brush my edges for years now and have noticed that they don't seem to be filling in. I do wear a head band BUT they aren't tight and are made of cloth. Will I ever get my edges back?
