So h...I have a love affair with pure Mehandi henna. So here's what I do: I wear box braids all the time, and in between new intalls I get a full head deep henna treatment (henna, lemon juice, water. Simple). 4-6 hours later, I wash it all out and deep condition to avoid the Sahara-like dryness. The next day, my head is ready for a new install of box braids. I've been doing this monthly for the past 7 months and my hair is SO shiny (this is the most noticeable bonus), much stronger and I absolutely love my reddish/copper hair color when in the sunlight! Now, on the loosening point, I have to say it DID loosen my curls, and I am a 4 type (a/b). Not in a bad way though. To be honest, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from afar. It shows while handling the hair and especially when braiding: it's softer and easier. It also shows when my braids are getting fuzzy (the hair reverting in the braid); the fuzziness is looser and less bulky, which means that I can wear my braids a bit longer without looking a hot mess. Lastly, a lot less frizz in the hairstyles (twistouts etc) and the curls are more defined.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15576850460287728418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-82532836260217122092011-12-21T22:38:19.482+00:002011-12-21T22:38:19.482+00:00does this also work with henna wax aswell or just ...does this also work with henna wax aswell or just henna powder?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-86252854509074342202011-07-24T13:28:36.593+01:002011-07-24T13:28:36.593+01:00If you go to CurlyNikki and click on the Henna tab...If you go to CurlyNikki and click on the Henna tab, you'll find a woman named Shelli's Hair Story. Just a theory though. I've to figure out of there is actually any disulfide cleavage and if there are any thiolates present.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-55994670184761446152011-02-06T16:27:18.372+00:002011-02-06T16:27:18.372+00:00Do you think porosity could be a factor in henna l...Do you think porosity could be a factor in henna loosening curls?Mojito Chicanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-16933383409428543202010-07-18T22:23:19.560+01:002010-07-18T22:23:19.560+01:00The weight of the henna relaxing the hair? Judging by my own hair - not talking science here, but still - the biggest change henna brings (except for the colour) is it is very drying to my hair. The first weeks after henna... it is just hopeless. Now unlike most of the people who read and comment your blog (or so it seems) I'm not black. My hair is type 3A, or similar, so I'm not sure how much or my experiences can be transferred to yours and vice versa. But to me, what makes my curls tighter (and that is something I want) is hydration. Glycerin makes my curls tighter. Oils that keep the moisture in might too, at least to some degree. So when I feel that awful after henna dryness and the somewhat distorted curl pattern, I blame it all on dryness. Not sure if you can examine the scientific literature for henna and dryness of hair, but if you can and choose to do it I would be very interested.kontakthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15604450435187598408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-67229768852366289472010-05-18T18:56:11.809+01:002010-05-18T18:56:11.809+01:00OMG this was so informative...
