After all, it tends to soften up when warm just like in a bottle. Hard and solid when cols, runny and liquid when warm. I did however notice that it's so much easier to apply WAAAAAY too much if you don't let it liquify before application. I used to apply it in its solid form and my hair was stupid oily lol. Now I put chunks of it in an applicator bottle and warm it under running hot water. I usually use a little less than a dime-size amount for my entire head, it does the trick. I never thought of adding it to JBCO tho. I had the same issues with it, it made my hair tangly. I recently started adding macadamia oil to thin it out. So pre-poo with EVCO? Trying that on my next wash day :) thanks for the infoAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08025858284250051964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-80746629835791622392012-10-10T06:06:38.376+01:002012-10-10T06:06:38.376+01:00I too had the same crunchy feeling after using A L...I too had the same crunchy feeling after using A LOT of coconut oil, like I usually do with my sealants. But I immediately figured I had used too much. I will definitely this finger tip method. however I doubt i'll be using coconut oil as a sealant or moisturizer as I tend to use A huge quantity of products in my hair, because I don't see how a pea size amount can penetrate all those hair follicles. I also have dry hair, though I've been experimenting with different techniques and products, 2 years of experimentation later, hair is still dry and refuse to me moisturized. ~Adeola~https://www.blogger.com/profile/10261328165151534532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-61828717301431233152012-02-28T18:39:32.995+00:002012-02-28T18:39:32.995+00:00Coconut oil seals in the protein, if your hair get...Coconut oil seals in the protein, if your hair gets hard or crunchy then you have protein overload and you need to moisturize with something like aloe vera, avocado, honey, etc then use the coconut oil to seal it in, it VERY good for your hair, i drink it in my tea also.Nina Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01607834206250319427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-31430482299066492792011-05-18T03:19:34.719+01:002011-05-18T03:19:34.719+01:00Coconut oil solidifies at cooler temperatures. As soon as you go inside a building or into a car or whatever it goes back to being soft. Just leave it alone and don't touch it or mess around with the hair while it's crunchy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-1520370283851213762011-04-18T17:48:52.734+01:002011-04-18T17:48:52.734+01:00Ok, so which one is it!? I thought it was to moisturize then i read somewhere a lady used it in cold climate and it made her hair hard which is understandable because I too live in cold climate and during those times of the year the bottle I purchased turns solid, but during the warm months it turns back into a liquid!I wanted to incorporate this into a spray bottle leave in conditioner regiment. Any suggestions?!?!?!gurlstop95noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8356365023823603303.post-18839301439806905422011-03-29T18:38:14.364+01:002011-03-29T18:38:14.364+01:00Grateful for this post. I've used coconut oil all my life and found out very early on that because of my texture, my hair didn't take to it very well (my technique obviously wasn't working lol) so I only ever used it as a pre-poo. But like I said my coconut oil is now all liquid. My hair is very very coarse (between a 4b and 4c hair type) and I also have sebhorric dermatitis and I don't have a relaxer. The Coco oil has made my hair is very soft and and my scalp has seen a great improvement. That probably prevents it from seeping into the hair or scalp and making it less effective it treatments. You might as well use lard or butter if the coconut oil on your hair cools to a solid state :p

In cooler weather, try using coco-oil as an over night wash-off treatment instead of a sealer.
