I have seen this project via LHCF (no I'm not a member!) and I think it is a great idea! I don't particularly care for straight hair but I think this tool would work as an alternative to curlformers for stretching hair. I have not seen or used a prototype but the demo does appear to be effective and in some senses quite simple - which is a great feature!
I do not know and have not spoken to the lady behind the kickstarter but it really does seem like a good project and it is nice to see innovation within the natural hair community! All the rewards for backing seem to ship exclusively to USA so I will not be dipping into my pocket but I hope the US girls will!
** Update - Thanks to readers and LHCF members, the creator, Kelechi has now added international shipping options! **
Here is the kickstarter page - CWK Straight Plates
This is a wonderful idea. I remember way back when thinking 'if only Curlforms made their rollers lay flat some how'. I will definitely donate to this young lady's project. Thanks for the heads up!!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Brilliant. This is truly innovative! I bet most people are asking themselves, why didn't I think of that? Haha!!
ReplyDeleteThe creator has since updated the Kickstarter campaign to include International packages~
ReplyDeleteHey, she added a prize for international people.
ReplyDeleteCWK is offering international shipping now; check the Kickstarter page for updates. She has a newly added $50 package just for international ladies.
ReplyDeleteThese plates seem like a good idea. I plan to back it. FYI, she does have international options available.
ReplyDeleteHi Jc love your blog so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI and others contacted Kelechi on the LHCF about us international buyers, so now there are 2 $50 + $5 shipping packages available.
Please support her.
The product is easier (IMO) than curl formers and flexirod to quickly stretch natural hair. I can't wait to use it on my 4c hair.
Thanks Adanne! I have pledged on the international package!

ReplyDeleteDragana, your comment was not deleted, just never published. I specifically request that all comments are relevant to the topic. I also never like when someone who is supposed to be reading the blog cannot spell the name of the blog. All that aside, there are many appropriate places for your comment but this particular post was not it.
DeleteWell, just in case she reads this, I hope she does a demo on kinkier hair. I think its a cool idea though.
ReplyDeleteI believe the child was the kinky demo :) I get it though, my hair is 4z and I do not expect this tool to create straight hair for me.I do think it will stretch my hair which is what I need to make braiding and parting easier.
DeleteIt seems like a good idea. Same principle as curlformers, only straitening the hair out.
