Where do you buy your hair products and why?

Ok resuming the product madness, here is a new question. I can guess from reading your previous responses what the answer would be, but I'm hoping for a few surprises so please do join in!

1. Where do you buy your hair products?
2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?

My answers
1. From a brick and mortar store (supermarket or pharmacy - no real affiliation - tesco, sainsbury's, asda, superdrug or boots).
2. Easy to compare prices, large range of products to choose from, deals galore!
3. Sort of - I order groceries online from the supermarket (Sainsbury's) and if an online deal is available with something I normally use then it will be bought!

Your turn now !! In case you missed the previous posts they are

1.  One Product Only
2.  Playing Favourites: How Often do you Change Products?

Comments

  2. I buy products from brick and mortar stores (target, walmart, sometimes the beauty supply store).

I buy products there for the wide range of product lines.

I buy hair products from some black-owned business and shops online. i don't like that too much though, alla that extra shipping in addition to the extra price for "natural products" :( but we gotta support the effort, lol.

  3. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
Mostly from the drugstore and chain stores (target, etc)

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
    Because it's affordable!

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Yes, but only things I absolutely cannot get on the ground (raw shea butter and qhemet biologics only)

  4. Brick and mortar (Tesco, Boots, Superdrug, Holland and Barrett)

    'Net (Amazon UK, Paks, etc.,)

I find more and more I'm getting it from the 'net because my darling hubby gets really antsy when I spend a long time trying to make up my mind as far as what products to buy (I can get real dopey when trying to choose what to try next or buy).

  5. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?

Verywhere I can think of! My local hippie co-operative (for my flowers like Hibiscus, Jasmine and Lavender and Rose petals and Cassia), The Indian Grocers (for Ayurvedic herbs and Vatika) the Supermarket (for when I need to get my DIY mixtress on), and ordinary places like Boots and Superdrug and Hollands and Barretts for flaxseeds coconut oil (it smells yummier than the one from the Indian Grocers and is easier to get out of the tub!).
My mum gets my Shea Butter for me. Yay for family connections!

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?

Instant gratification, mainly. I hate waiting. And I hate paying extra for shipping, though getting stuff in the mail is always like getting a present! Albeit, a present you've already paid for -_-

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?

Yep! From the British Curlies Emporium, trying out Anita Grant stuffs, essential oils, Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Black soap - stuff it's hard to get on the ground outside of London. But shipping stopped me on a lot of purchases or enabled me ("Well, if it's a £5 flat charge, I might as well pick [insert product here] up as well to make it worth it...") However, now Anita Grant has free shipping, I'm thinking of going back....

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
they have the line I use...KINKY CURLY and AUBREY ORGANICS and I don't wanna pay for shipping.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Of course! Still do for some things.

  9. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
Brick and mortar stores e.g. walmart, the local beauty supply store and online

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?

    Easy availability and affordable price.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Yes, certain oils and butters, essential oils. This is only for items that are unavailable locally or items where buying online is more cost effective even with shipping charges.

  10. 1. Where do you buy your hair products? I usually buy my products anywhere locally (Sally's, Whole Foods, Drugstore, Trader Joes, Ulta, Sephora to name a few).
    2. Why do you buy your hair products here? I buy them there because it's easier to get if I run out (plus no shipping charges!), it's cheaper (especially if I have a coupon).
    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online? I used to buy most of my products online, but I don't as much anymore (unless it's hair for extensions or something I can't get locally). I really loathe shipping charges (most of the time because some companies charge waaaaaayyyyy to much) and I really hate waiting (i.e. products that you have to wait 2 weeks for).

  11. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
the local "Boots" store here, called Etos (Netherlands), but mostly online.

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?

at Etos: easily accessible for my commercial shampoos and conditioners, and lots of deals on a regular basis.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Yes, i mostly buy online actually.
Mostly from British Curlies in the UK: very wide range/selection of products.
In the Netherlands, i often order from:
Mariposa-Import: a bit pricey but has Qhemet Biologics and a couple of other lines i like.
SistaCurlsCollection: has small range of popular US products.
Doeli: has a few popular US products like Uncle Funky, Afroveda, CurlFormers, etc ...

I like ordering online, i can get a lot i want in one go, of course shipping costs suck! :)

  13. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?

I purchase them from stores like Whole Foods, the Health Food Store (Queens Health Emporium, NY), any beauty supply that is reasonably priced and Trader Joes. And because I live in NYC I can easily get to Karen's Body Beautiful to stock up on my two faves: Butter Love and Sweet Ambrosia.

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?

No shipping charges, plus I can smell the product and observe its consistency to determine how best I can stretch my dollars.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?

No need to unless I move to Alaska or some remote location.

  14. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
Beauty supply stores mostly, but sometimes Target, Whole Foods, Ulta or drug stores.

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
The types of things I tend to want aren't usually at Target, so I tend to have to go to my BSS to find them.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Yep. Shipping cost is often a deal breaker, but if it's not outrageous (or, even better, free), I like to check out the natural, black-owned product lines.

  16. 1. All over. I get my conditioners at the chemists/supermarket, but I've also bought things from Lush, from my local Asian supermarket, from health food shops. At home in the Caribbean, I buy from beauty supply shops, pharmacies, and health food shops.

    2. Convenience. They're on my route when I'm going about my daily business.

    3. Yes, I've bought butters, oils and ayurvedic herbs online. I've never bought pre-formulated products online.

  19. My answers are almost too boring to send in :/ ...

    1. Where do you buy your hair products?
    a) Conditioners at the drugstore, b) SLS free Shampoo at the black beauty supply store, c) Coconut oil and olive oil at the health food store.
    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
    a) for the offers b) because you can't get them elsewhere c) for the quality
    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
Just a purple hair colour that I already knew before ;) I'm afraid I am not ready for cyber age yet. My brain can't process comparing products in different sizes and formulas and dividing the shipping costs through no. of items. I always end up with long wish lists that I never order.

  20. 1. Target (Shea Moisture Products), Healthfood Stores (Aloe Vera Gel), Grocery Store (ACV, Honey) and Butter-n-bars.com (Unrefined Shea Butter)

  21. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
Def on the ground. BSS, Walmart, Target etc.
    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
Easily accessible, no shipping costs, easier to compare prices, i can smell them BEFORE i buy lol

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online? I haven't. Main reason is the shipping prices are so high =( Most of the time I want one or two things and the shipping is hardly worth it unless you're doing a haul.

  22. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
**Kmart, Sally's, Walmart, Rite Aid, Safeway, All over!

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
**Great prices. Only place I can find certain products.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
**Only if I have used the product before and can't find it in a local store anymore. I have to like the *smell* of every product I use in my hair (yes, Im the type that you see in store isles sniffing hair products!! lol) before I buy them. So, no new products, only tried and true will I buy online (exceptions being EVCO and Shea butter):)

  23. 1. Drugstore, Vitamin and supplement store (like GNC), and the independent African or Caribbean merchants
    2. Drugstore is cheap, supplement stores have the organic products (like my AVJ) and merchants carry the REAL good oils/butters.
    3. Yes, my tangle teezer. I was disappointed with the shipping (paid like 6 or 7 bucks for shipping and it gets to me in a MONTH?!) so I prob won't do it again.

  25. 1. Where do you buy your hair products?
At the supermarket or the chemists. I try to limit my trips to the ethnic hair shops because I mostly use generic products.

    2. Why do you buy your hair products here?
The supermarket is convenient. Trips to the ethnic hair shops require planning. They're a long way from home.

    3. Bonus question - have you ever bought hair products online?
I have bought products which aren't readily available in the UK online. Mainly because people rave about them on the hair boards or youtube.
