UK Shopping!
I started a UK shopping guide which I haven't updated for a while but I am going to do so this week. You can find the guide here
One of our readers Lani from the UK wants to know what moisturiser do you use? If you buy one, let us know where and if you make one let us know how!
My moisturiser du jour is a simple glycerin mix (20% in water) lightly sprayed. Glycerin comes from Sainsbury's but you can pretty much get it in any supermarket. I then follow up with a 50-50 shea butter coconut oil mix (see the list for buying locations). I have not found a commercial moisturiser that I liked. I also use hair conditioner as a leave in sometimes when I feel that my hair is not soft enough.
Finally does anyone buy Anita Grant products? I recall seeing her products on American blogs and who knew the company was actually UK based?!

I use the Hair Milk from Curl Harmony (curlharmony.co.uk) it smells devine & it works wonders for my hair!! (especially the "kitchen" area which is particularly stubborn:) )
ReplyDeleteThanks Cris - Curl Harmony is yet another vendor I have not heard of!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the guide! I'm definitely moving to London in the fall (yay!) and I wasn't sure what's available (other than Anita Grant products, which I do like), so this is extremely helpful. Those Curl Harmony products look great!
ReplyDeleteOOoo great news Moni! I'll definitely get the shopping guide updated!
ReplyDeleteYou know Callalily did mention curl harmony before! I think I have brain freeze!
ReplyDeleteI love the moringa pomade by Akua Wood. It is also based in the UK(www.akuawood.co.uk). She has great products for hair and overall body.
ReplyDeleteI also love Anita Grant product. They are my treat/splurge products. Everything I've tried from her worked for me. Love love her vanilla oils and the virgin mango coconut whip..yummy
Thanks Amina. I see Anita Grant mentioned a lot on American sites, I never thought it was a UK baed business.
ReplyDelete*based typo :)
ReplyDeleteYou know that i love it when you actually share your own routine JC. Hihihi
ReplyDeleteI use only Anita Grant (except when making my own things like olive oil and almond oil mixes). Her products are great!
ReplyDeleteYou can order samples from her before trying the full size if your not sure
lol Thanks Kadiane. I don't mind sharing I just don't think that my routine is suitable for everyone so I try not to yap on too much about it. It works for me but every so often I'll change it up when I discover something new.
ReplyDeleteThanks for contributing Celina!
I misunderstood you. Do you mix 80 percent glycerin with 20 percent water? Or 20% glycerin with 80% water. I really am learning soooo much from your blog. I'm relaxed but my children are natural so I want to learn how to properly care for their hair and mine too.
ReplyDelete20% glycerin with 80% water
