Friday Shout Out : Tia Shauntee

I found Tia Shauntee on youtube with her gorgeous video on curlformers and she actually helped me decide on the best technique with them (the power of twitter!). She also has a blog! I realised I have not shouted out some of my favourite blogs recently so here I am giving a big shout out to Tia - discover her this weekend - go click now!

  2. Tia Shauntee is a fav--Watched all her vids as soon as I discovered her channel.

Flexirods, curlformers and perm rods seem to require combing for smooth results. I gave up the comb about 3 years ago, except to part, so those styles have more texture on me. Wish was there another way.

  3. Loved it that was awesome, looks like she used heat to get it that smooth!

  4. what technique did you use? I suspect my hair is more like yours than Tia's. I wonder if curlformers can work on kinky hair.....still doubtful
    Thanks

    1. My hair retains alot of texture, it looks like a blow out. I don't use the curlformers for the curls, I use them for stretching.

    2. Thanks! So, would you say that your hair doesn't curl with curlformers? And how would you compare the stretch you get from curlformers versus other methods, e.g. African threading?

    3. African threading gives a good stretch but it generally needs at least two days. First day for the initial stretching then take out and redo the threading to get a full and final stretch. Curlformers take 3-4 hours and that is it. I use both techniques though, African threading for me is less work than curlformers so it depends on my mood.

Curlformers do give my hair a curl but it looks like blown out hair which has been curled, rather than like Tia Shauntee's hair which is straighter. My result is similar to this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T-SW1rEsjs

    4. Do you have a preference between wide or narrow for your hair type? what do you usually do with your hair after it is stretched?
